Emma Adler studies modern and contemporary drama, nineteenth-century British literature, and the relationship between fiction and ethics. She is working on two books: one about metafictional plays based on novels, one about how ethics in fiction differs from ethics in real life. She received her PhD and BA in English from Harvard, and her MFA in Playwriting from Trinity College Dublin. Her work has appeared in Modern Drama, the Journal of Narrative Theory, the Gaskell Journal, and Public Books. From 2020 to 2022 she was the Fiction Editor of The Drift.
